FRESCO Dry BARF Complete Plus Beef consists exclusively of pure muscle meat, offal and calcium bones from beef as well as fresh fruit and vegetables and high quality oils.
Your dog is not only harmed by environmental influences, but increasingly also by the ingredients in the feed. The preservatives, additives and chemical residues often contained in them can be partly responsible for diseases such as tumors, kidney and liver damage, impairments in the musculoskeletal system, fertility disorders and allergies. Therefore we have decided to completely renounce any additives in our FRESCO Dry Bark Barf Food.
The manufacturing process of FRESCO Dried B.A.R.F. differs from all conventional "Premium" dried food. Instead of extruding the ingredients under high pressure and high temperatures (pressure cooker), they are elaborately air- and freeze-dried. All vital nutrients, which are directly contained in the original ingredients, are preserved by this new process. We use 4kg Complete Plus Fertigbarf for the production of 1kg dry barf, because the drying process almost completely removes the moisture.
Most dog food consists of inferior raw materials, mainly cereals, bone meal and fats, which are then extruded at high pressure and high temperatures. Since the natural nutrients are largely destroyed by the manufacturing process, essential vitamins and minerals must be artificially sprayed on. Other preservatives and additives are also usually used.
Ingredients of a typical extruded dry dog food:
- Low percentage of fresh meat (mostly as fat)
- Meat flours (declared as dried meat)
- Grain or starch (e.g. from potatoes)
- Smoke Flavours
- Binders
- Dyes e.g. titanium dioxide (Mostly declared as EC-additives)
- Artificial vitamin and mineral supplements
- Flavor enhancer
FRESCO Dried Barf in comparison is based exclusively on natural ingredients. In our food you will find only fresh meat, bones and offal, vegetables, fruit and selected oils.
Dogs need large amounts of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium - three times as much calcium as humans. These come into our food via the fresh breastbone bones. Trace elements such as iron, copper, zinc, cobalt, iodine and selenium are added to our dry barf via the combination of offal and fruit.
Your dog also needs ten different amino acids every day, as well as unsaturated fatty acids (linoleic acid), which are obtained from the fresh offal and muscle meat, just as with fresh barf.
Since vitamins, especially from the B-complex, are significantly reduced during heating, FRESCO Trockenbarf relies on freeze-drying. Liver and oils are freeze-dried together so that the vitamins are preserved.
FRESCO Dried Barf has the following average nutrient profile. Please note that the natural raw materials we use do not always have the same nutrient content. Not every apple has the same amount of vitamins. The nutrient content may therefore vary accordingly in each batch.

Feeding recommendation
You do not have to soak FRESCO Trockenbarf in water, you can feed it dry. Of course your dog should always have enough fresh water available.
Our dry barf contains about 535 kcal/100g. As a guideline for the amount of food for normally active, non-neutered healthy dogs (no matter if male or female) we recommend per day:
- adult dogs: approx. 0,8-1% of the body weight
- smaller breeds (up to approx. 15 kg): approx. 1.3% of body weight
- Puppies, young dogs and lactating dogs: approx. 2-3 % of the current body weight
Important: Your dog needs only about half as much of our high-energy dry food, which does not contain any poorly digestible fillers such as cereals, rice, potatoes, etc., as of another extruded premium dog food (Wolf's Blood, Real Nature, Eukanuba, etc.). Therefore it is perfectly normal that your dog only defecates half as FRESCO Dry Bark Barf can be used and digested more completely. How can you determine the right daily amount of calories even more precisely? In the literature there is a formula for calculating the Resting Energy Requirements (RER), i.e. the energy consumption at rest or basal metabolic rate, for dogs between 2 and 45 kg.
How is the RER calculated? »
The RER is calculated according to the formula:
RER in kcal/day = 30 x body weight of the dog in kg + 70
Accordingly, a 23 kg dog has a basal metabolic rate of:
30 x 23 + 70 = 760 kcal/day
This RER can now be used to calculate the Daily Energy Requirement (DER). This depends on the activity level and individual characteristics of the dog and is displayed as a multiplication factor.
Activity Daily Energy Requirement
Hold weight 1.0 x RER
Adult dog, neutered, during normal activity 1,6 x RER
Adult dog, not neutered, during normal activity 1.8 x RER
Light activity 2.0 x RER
Moderate activity 3.0 x RER
High activity, heavy work 4-8 x RER
Pregnant bitch (in the first 21 days) 1,8 x RER
Pregnant bitch (in the last 21 days) 3,0 x RER
Breastfeeding bitch 4-8 x RER
Puppy until 4 months old 3,0 x RER
Puppy from 4 months to adult age 2,0 x RER
However, individual needs may differ from the calculated values by up to 50% due to age, race or activity. These are therefore only starting points for the estimation of the daily feed quantity.
Since overweight is the main reason for diseases due to too much energy intake with too little exercise, we recommend constantly monitoring the weight and reducing the amount of feed when weight gain occurs. Most importantly, you need to include the fed snacks/chewing items and rewards in the calculation. If you still have questions, you can always call our hotline.
What is in it and why?
Composition:
Fresh muscle meat from beef (35%)
The dog needs proteins to build and maintain organs, muscles and the functioning of enzymes. Meat is a good source of protein because it contains all essential amino acids in the right ratio to each other and therefore has a high biological value. Furthermore, meat contains iron, zinc, selenium and B vitamins.
Fresh beef heart (10%)
Beef heart consists mainly of muscles, i.e. meat. It is very rich in protein and contains hardly any fat. It supplies high-quality biotin and potassium.
Fresh green beef rumen (9%)
Green rumen from cattle is particularly high-quality because it contains the already pre-digested green plants of the feed animals. The bacteria in the bovine rumen have already broken them down and converted them into high-quality protein. It has an important promoting effect on the digestion of the dog.
Finely ground fresh breastbone (8%)
Bones are part of every B.A.R.F. recipe. They contain important natural calcium, iron, fats and enzymes.
Fresh beef kidney (6%)
Beef kidney is particularly rich in protein, but contains little fat. It also contains a lot of sodium, vitamin B12 and biotin.
Freeze-dried beef liver (3%)
Beef liver is particularly valuable because it contains a lot of iron and many vitamins (A, B 2, B 12, biotin, etc.) Due to the gentle freeze-drying process, heat-sensitive vitamins are preserved.
Carrots (10%) and beet (3%)
They contain many vitamins and minerals (especially potassium). They also contain saponins and flavonoids, which stimulate the appetite and aid digestion.
Fresh natural apples (4%) and pears (4%), directly from the farmer
Apples contain pectin, vitamin C, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron and sodium. Pears contain vitamin C, 4 vitamins B, lots of potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, iron, iodine.
Blueberries (2%)
Mainly a source of manganese and copper, but also contains vitamin C, carotene, iron, potassium, sodium, vitamins of the B group and anthocyanins.
High quality cold-pressed sunflower oil (1%):
Important supplier of vitamin E, linoleic and alpha linoleic acid and essential fatty acids.
Cod liver oil (0.8%)
Mainly a supplier of vitamin D but also high in vitamin A and E and rich in iodine and omega-3 fatty acids.
Gluten-free wheat germ oil (0.5%)
Wheat germ oil is among the oils with the highest vitamin E content.
Salmon oil (0,4%)
Supplier of essential fatty acids, produces a balanced omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.
Rose hips (0.4%)
Rose hip shells are rich in natural vitamin C (ascorbic acid).
Algae lime (0.4%), seaweed (0.1%)
Important suppliers of minerals (magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and iodine).
